What is ICSI?

ICSI TREATMENT AT AFCT

Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) is an advanced fertility treatment performed alongside in vitro fertilization (IVF). In this procedure, a single healthy sperm is carefully selected and injected directly into the cytoplasm of a mature egg to achieve fertilization.

ICSI is one of the most effective treatments for male infertility, unexplained infertility, and cases where previous IVF cycles resulted in low or failed fertilization.

ICSI TREATMENT

Why Choose ICSI?

ICSI May Be Recommended For

  • Male factor infertility – low sperm count, poor motility, or abnormal sperm shape
  • Previous IVF fertilization failure – little or no fertilization with standard IVF
  • Unexplained infertility – when no clear cause is identified
  • Frozen or surgically retrieved sperm – including TESE or PESA procedures

Benefits of ICSI

  • Improves fertilization rates when traditional IVF is not effective
  • Allows fertilization with very few viable sperm
  • Enables the use of frozen or surgically retrieved sperm
  • Reduces the risk of multiple sperm fertilizing one egg (polyspermy)
  • Provides new hope for couples facing severe male infertility
At AFCT, our experienced embryologists use state-of-the-art technology to perform ICSI with precision, maximizing your chances of successful fertilization and pregnancy.

ADVANCED FERTILITY TECHNIQUE

ICSI Process & Expertise

How the ICSI Process Works

  1. Eggs are retrieved during the IVF cycle.
  2. Sperm is prepared, and a single healthy sperm is selected under a microscope.
  3. Using micromanipulation, the sperm is injected directly into the egg's cytoplasm.
  4. Fertilized eggs (zygotes) are cultured and monitored for normal development before transfer or freezing.

ICSI Expertise at AFCT

ICSI was first introduced to the United States by Dr. Dmitri Dozortsev, AFCT's leading embryologist, who conducted pioneering research on how sperm activates the egg during fertilization. Under his leadership, our Omni Med Laboratory performs ICSI with unmatched precision, giving patients access to the highest level of embryology care.
